Changing the battery type for Lifeline Vi/Vi+

Continuous product improvements at Tunstall

Nov 5, 2019

As part of continuous product improvement, Tunstall is changing the battery type on the following Lifeline Vi / Vi+ home emergency call devices:

  • Lifeline Vi Classic, art.-no. 57008/620
  • Lifeline Vi MHD I, art.-no. 57008/621
  • Lifeline Vi MHD II, art.-no. 57008/622
  • Lifeline Vi Blue, art.-no. 57008/623
  • Lifeline Vi Taris, art.-no. 57008/624
  • Lifeline Vi+, art.-no. 57108/620

The previous nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries will be replaced by modern lithium (Li-Ion) batteries. The change comes into force from the production date 11/19.

The advantages of modern lithium-ion batteries are obvious:

  • Reduced charging time - the charging time of the battery will be reduced from currently approx. 24 hours to 8
  • No battery maintenance necessary - storage for up to 24 months without recharging
  • No memory effect with lower self-discharge and higher energy density
  • 25% more charging cycles possible

In line with the change of the battery type, the above mentioned devices also use a new, modern 5V plug-in power supply (instead of the 12V plug-in power supply as before). The part number of the new plug-in power supply is XD5706070A.

The described changes have no effect on the operation of the Lifeline Vi/Vi+ home emergency call devices.
